Job description

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: England, Greater London, Wandsworth

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £130 - £165 Per day

Job Duties:

  • Supporting secondary school students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their learning and development
  • Assisting teachers in implementing individual education plans for students with SEN
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN in various subjects
  • Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Collaborating with other school staff, parents, and external professionals to support the needs of students with SEN

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Education:

  • Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
  • Additional training or qualifications related to Special Educational Needs is desirable

Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting
  • Experience supporting students with a range of SEN requirements

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of various SEN conditions and strategies to support students with diverse needs
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students with SEN
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting student learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Additional training or qualifications in specific areas of Special Educational Needs

Working Conditions:

  • Working hours are typically during school hours, Monday to Friday
  • May require occasional participation in school events or meetings outside of regular hours
  • Work is primarily conducted within a school setting, including classrooms and other learning spaces
  • Opportunity for professional development and ongoing training to enhance skills in supporting students with SEN

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
