Job description
Are you an experienced HLTA who feels confident working with challenging behaviour? Teaching Personnel are working with a provision in Bristol which create an opportunity for young people on their last chance their GCSE’s. The role is to support a small group of Secondary aged children who have been in and out of education and have lost the opportunity to sit their exams in a mainstream setting.
This is the ideal opportunity for those who have worked in mainstream education and know what is required of student’s curriculum wise and behaviour wise. The young people in the community who have struggled to be on the right path and need someone who wants to make a real difference in their life. The classroom sizes are no bigger than 8, so it allows you to build genuine connections where you may not have been able to build in other provisions.
The role is fulltime to begin January and the rest of the academic year!
Position:
- Start: January
- Small class sizes of 6/8 pupils, creating strong relationships with the students
- Monday- Friday (08:30 - 3:30), fulltime, term time only
- Temp to perm (contract) to the right candidate
- £100/ day paid weekly (potentially more depending on experience)
- Accessible parking and bus routes
Requirements:
- HLTA qualification required, or equivalent
- Experience in the classroom SEN/ SEMH setting
- Has a DBS on the update service or, willing to get one
The successful candidate will:
- Be confident and proactive working with challenging behaviour. Possess de-escalation qualities.
- Flexible and adaptable in challenging situations. Reliable and consistent to the school and students
- Have the drive and ambition to make a difference to a child’s education and confidence
- Be open minded and understanding of individual situations, as all students come from different walks of life

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
