Science Technician – Glossop

As a Science Technician, you’ll be a key player in ensuring the smooth operation of the school’s laboratories, assisting teachers and students with practical science activities. Your expertise will help bring scientific concepts to life, making learning both safe and engaging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, organise, and set up scientific equipment, chemicals, and materials needed for practical science lessons across biology, chemistry, and physics
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, ensuring equipment and materials are safely stored, labelled, and regularly serviced
- Monitor and manage the inventory of lab supplies, placing orders and updating records as needed
- Strictly adhere to and enforce health and safety protocols, providing a safe learning environment for students and staff
- Assist in demonstrations and practical lessons, guiding students and answering questions to foster curiosity and a deeper understanding of scientific principles
Requirements:
We are looking for a candidate with a solid background in science, ideally with laboratory experience, whether in an educational, research, or clinical setting. Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of laboratory health and safety standards are crucial for this role. Familiarity with chemical handling and lab equipment is a plus, and a willingness to support hands-on learning is essential. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
