Science Teacher
Job description
I am working with a school in Southampton who are looking to recruit a Science Teacher for January.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess science lessons in accordance with the curriculum.
- Provide differentiated support for students with diverse needs, including emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges.
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with the SEN team, pastoral staff, and other teachers to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and tailored teaching strategies.
- Manage challenging behavior using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
- Promote emotional well-being and self-regulation through the teaching of science.
- Regularly assess and monitor progress, providing feedback to students and parents.

Skills & Qualities:
- Strong understanding of science, ideally with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
- Experience working in SEMH, SEN, or alternative education settings is a plus.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with students with complex needs.
- Patience, flexibility, and creativity in teaching methods.
- Excellent behavior management skills, using positive and proactive strategies.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
- An empathetic, compassionate, and student-centered approach.

Desirable:
- Experience with therapeutic or restorative teaching practices.
- Training in special educational needs, trauma-informed teaching, or SEMH.
- An interest in outdoor education or hands-on learning, particularly in science.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
