Job description

Science teacher (ideally with Physics specialism) required in Scarborough!
A top-rated secondary school in Selby is searching for an experienced and passionate General Science teacher to join their team on a long-term, full-time temporary contract starting in December 2024. The successful candidate will be paid and will have the opportunity to work with a well-behaved student body and a highly experienced and professional team in the Science department.

Length of contract: 1 year temporary or fixed term contract (possible permanent opportunity for the right person)

Salary: MPS - UPS 

Our school is proud to have an "Outstanding" rating from OFSTED and is located in a highly desirable area with excellent transport links. They have a diverse student body and are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

The timetable will be manageable, including plenty of PPA time and teaching classes for students aged 11-16 with mixed ability levels.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to join a successful and supportive department and contribute to the growth and development their students.

As a General Science teacher, you will be responsible for:
• Delivering engaging and effective lessons in Biology and Chemistry at Key stages 3-4 and KS5 Physics.
• Assessing and monitoring student progress
• Collaborating with other teachers and department members
• Participating in department meetings and professional development opportunities
• Supporting and advising students and parents

To be considered for this position, you must have:
• A degree in Science or related field
• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
• A proven track record of teaching General Science and Physics
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• A passion for teaching and a desire to inspire students
• A valid DBS check or be willing to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
