Job description

Science Supply Teacher

Our client secondary school is a vibrant and inclusive educational institution dedicated to fostering a love for learning in all students. Their science department is committed to delivering high-quality education that inspires curiosity and critical thinking.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Supply Teacher to join the team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, ensuring that all students receive a high standard of education during the absence of regular teaching staff.

This position would start ASAP and run full-time until the Easter holidays. The school is situated in the heart of Longsight, only a short walk away from the nearest public transport options including both bus and tram routes. There is also a large onsite car park for members of staff using a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-planned science lessons effectively across various topics including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and create a positive learning environment.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure continuity in the curriculum.
  • Participate in school meetings and contribute to departmental planning.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience teaching science at secondary level is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage students effectively.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
