Teacher of Science – Secondary School in Burnley (Permanent Position)
Start Date: January 2025
Location: Burnley, Lancashire
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

An Ofsted-rated GOOD secondary school in Burnley is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Science to join their permanent staff from January 2025. The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching, have high expectations of students, and play a key role in maintaining the school's strong academic reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and high-quality Science lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Inspire and motivate students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on students' progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to the development of the Science curriculum, ensuring lessons are innovative and meet national standards.
  • Participate in whole-school activities, including departmental meetings, parents’ evenings, and CPD opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Degree in Science or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching Science at secondary school level (NQTs/ECTs are welcome to apply).
  • Strong subject knowledge across all Science disciplines, with a particular focus on one or more specialisms.
  • Ability to create a stimulating learning environment and manage classroom behaviour effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • A commitment to upholding the school's ethos, values, and safeguarding policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
