A vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in Brighton, rated GOOD by Ofsted, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Science to join their permanent staff list starting in January 2025. The school has a strong reputation for academic excellence, inclusivity, and fostering a supportive learning environment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a committed team that values both student achievement and staff development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Support students' academic progress, ensuring lessons cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, contributing to the continued improvement of the Science curriculum.
  • Assess and monitor student progress in line with national standards.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support the holistic development of all students.
  • Actively participate in the school’s extracurricular activities and initiatives.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • Degree in Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level (Key Stage 3 and 4). Key Stage 5 experience is desirable but not essential.
  • A passion for Science and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate learners of all abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and reflective approach to teaching and learning.

Desirable:

  • Experience in teaching a specialism within Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) to Key Stage 4 or higher.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular clubs or activities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
