School Business Manager (Maternity Cover)
(£33,945 - £38,223 pro rata)
Location: Primary School, Canton
Contract: Temporary Maternity Cover
Start Date: As soon as possible
End Date: July 2025 (or upon the return of the permanent postholder)
Teaching Personnel are seeking a proactive and experienced School Business Manager to join the friendly and supportive primary school team in Canton. This is a maternity cover role, starting as soon as possible, and will continue until July 2025 or the return of the permanent postholder, whichever is sooner.
Key Responsibilities:
As the School Business Manager, you will play a vital role in the operational running of the school, ensuring the smooth management of finances, administration, and human resources. You will:
- Lead on budget planning, monitoring, and financial management to ensure effective use of resources.
- Oversee the management of facilities including premises, catering, and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide leadership in the areas of administration and human resources, supporting staff development and managing personnel records.
- Work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to drive school improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with external agencies including the local authority and manage contracts and service agreements.
What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for an individual with:
- Proven experience in school business management, including budget management and financial reporting.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of facilities management and health and safety regulations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, pupils, parents, and external partners.
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar role within a school setting.
- Ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
