Contract: Temporary Maternity Cover
Start Date: As soon as possible
End Date: July 2025 (or upon the return of the permanent postholder)

Teaching Personnel are seeking a proactive and experienced School Business Manager to join the friendly and supportive primary school team in Canton. This is a maternity cover role, starting as soon as possible, and will continue until July 2025 or the return of the permanent postholder, whichever is sooner.

Key Responsibilities:

As the School Business Manager, you will play a vital role in the operational running of the school, ensuring the smooth management of finances, administration, and human resources. You will:

• Lead on budget planning, monitoring, and financial management to ensure effective use of resources.
• Oversee the management of facilities including premises, catering, and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Provide leadership in the areas of administration and human resources, supporting staff development and managing personnel records.
• Work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to drive school improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with external agencies including the local authority and manage contracts and service agreements.

What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for an individual with:

• Proven experience in school business management, including budget management and financial reporting.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of facilities management and health and safety regulations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, pupils, parents, and external partners.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable:

• Experience in a similar role within a school setting.
• Ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential.
