Are you passionate about inspiring young minds through the exploration of world religions, ethics, and philosophy? Do you have the ability to foster a deep understanding of spiritual, moral, and cultural perspectives in a diverse and vibrant school community?
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Religious Studies Teacher to join our thriving secondary school in Rochdale. As part of our Humanities department, you will help shape the academic and personal growth of our students by delivering engaging, thought-provoking lessons that encourage critical thinking, open dialogue, and respect for different beliefs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Religious Studies lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
- Inspire students to engage with a variety of religious traditions, ethical debates, and philosophical questions
- Promote respect and understanding of cultural diversity within a supportive learning environment
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and support to help them achieve their potential
- Contribute to the wider school community through extra-curricular activities, assemblies, and enrichment opportunities
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to develop the curriculum and share best practices
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- A degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related field
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities
- A commitment to promoting inclusivity, respect, and open-mindedness in line with school values
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for professional development
- Experience teaching Religious Studies at secondary school level (desirable but not essential for newly qualified teachers)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
