Qualified Therapist / Counsellor 
Location: Roehampton, Greater London 
Salary: Competitive, depending on skills, experience and qualifications 
Hours: Full-time 

Teaching Personnel have a wonderful opportunity to work with a fantastic specialist school based in Roehampton. 

Our client school is a school for young people aged 9-19 with mild to moderate autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated learning difficulties. 

They are seeking an enthusiastic, caring and passionate qualified counsellor to join their team. 

The successful candidate will join the schools multi-disciplinary team, this may suit someone experienced in a special needs environment or newly qualified, who will be required to work closely with other professionals providing support to students; reporting to the Therapy Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CBT Knowledge or Experience: Familiarity with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is desirable.
  • Caseload Management: Independently manage and coordinate your caseload, implementing individual EHCPs or treatment plans for counselling.
  • Professional Membership: Hold current membership with BACP, UKCP, or an equivalent accrediting body.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Complete required CPD activities annually, as mandated by your accrediting body.
  • Supervision: Attend regular supervision sessions, with a minimum of one hour per half term.
  • Student Assessments: Respond promptly to new students, conducting assessments to identify and prioritise needs. Plan and deliver appropriate, tailored interventions on an individual or group basis.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, timely records of each student's progress and complete Annual Review documentation when needed.
  • Collaboration: Build and maintain close working relationships with school staff, including teaching and support teams.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure clinical practice adheres to school policies, statutory regulations, and quality standards.
  • Service Promotion: Actively contribute to the growth of the school’s therapy services by promoting them in line with personal and organisational targets.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with students, families, carers, and other stakeholders.
  • Staff Training: Deliver training for school staff as required by EHCP provisions.
  • Engagement in Therapy: Facilitate counselling sessions for children and young people, employing a range of therapeutic models and resources.
  • Adhoc Counselling: Provide counselling sessions to students on an as-needed basis.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
