1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Torquay

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school in Torquay. You will work closely with a student with an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP) to ensure they can fully access the curriculum and thrive in their learning environment. This is a highly rewarding role where your support will make a significant difference in the student's academic journey and overall school experience. We are in particularly recruiting psychology graduates for this position. 

In this role, you will collaborate with the class teacher, onsite experts, and specialists to create a supportive and nurturing environment tailored to the student’s individual needs. You will be an integral part of a team committed to the success and well-being of the student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with an EHCP, focusing on their individual needs.
  • Assist the student in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities.
  • Implement strategies and interventions as outlined in the EHCP.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and specialists to monitor progress and adapt support strategies as needed.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Encourage social interaction and emotional development.
  • Keep detailed records of the student's progress and any challenges faced.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children and young people with additional needs, ideally in an educational or care setting.
  • Be patient, empathetic, and creative in their approach to supporting the student.
  • Have a strong commitment to safeguarding and the well-being of children.
  • Be adaptable, resilient, and able to build a positive rapport with the student.
  • Be committed to making a lasting impact on the student's future and overall school experience.
