Pupil Referral Unit Teaching Assistant

Do you have the resilience, patience, and skills to support students who may present challenging behaviour?  We are seeking a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a Specialist Pupil Referral Unit in Caerphilly, providing essential support to students who require a different approach to learning

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong behaviour management skills: You must be confident in, managing difficult behaviours and capable pf setting firm but fair boundaries.
  • Resilience and patience: Working with student who may have complex needs requires a calm and understand approach
  • Adaptability: Every day will be different, and you’ll need to think on your feet, supporting students with tailored strategies to meet their unique challenges
  • Empathy and Commitment: Building trusting relationships with students is key, as is your commitment to their personal and academic growth

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one or small group interventions to support students, helping them stay on track with their learning
  • Assist the classroom teacher with lesson delivery and behaviour management
  • Develop strategies to manage disruptive behaviour, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment
  • Support students’ emotional and social development, helping them build confidence and self-esteem
  • Work closely with teaching staff to implement individual learning plans tailor to each students needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
