Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the staff team at a Primary School in Sunderland. The successful candidate will support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality support for pupils either on a 1:1 basis or leading small intervention groups.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
- Support students with their learning activities, ensuring they stay focused and motivated.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need additional help.
- Help with classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Prepare classroom materials and resources as directed by the teacher.
- Assist in the assessment and monitoring of student progress.
- Support students with special educational needs, ensuring their individual learning needs are met.
- Participate in school events, outings, and activities as required.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational role is preferred.
- A relevant qualification in Education or Childcare (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ, or equivalent) is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
