Primary School Behaviour Support Assistant

Location: North of Cardiff

Working Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm

Start date: September 2024

Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a child in Year 1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on a young learner's educational journey by providing tailored support to help them succeed in a mainstream classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent and individualised support to the child with ASD, promoting positive behaviour and social interactions.
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning plans and behavioural strategies as directed by the classroom teacher and SENCO.
  • Facilitate the child's engagement in classroom activities and encourage their participation in social and educational tasks.
  • Monitor and document the child's progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching staff and parents.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, promoting the child's emotional and social development.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching staff and external professionals to adapt resources and strategies to meet the child's needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and strategies to support children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with the child, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's development and well-being.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the child's evolving needs.

Vetting Requirements:

  • Enhanced child only DBS on the update service
  • Up to date registration with the Education Workforce Council
  • 2x references
  • Proof of right to work in the UK
  • A permanent UK address
