About Us

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate High Needs SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team in one of our partner schools Redruth, Cornwall. Our school is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all students, with a particular focus on those with special educational needs (SEN). This role offers the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of students who require additional support.

Job Description

As a High Needs SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored support to students with high needs SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and support students in developing social and communication skills.
  • Assist with personal care needs if required.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of SEN provision at the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with high needs SEN students.
  • Adapt teaching materials and methods to meet individual needs.
  • Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to support student development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements and challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with high needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are desirable.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with SEN.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
