Part-Time Teaching Assistant to Provide Flexible Cover in Plymouth!

Are you passionate about education and looking for a flexible role that allows you to support schools on a part-time basis? We are seeking an adaptable Teaching Assistant to provide cover support in primary schools across Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a variety of classroom settings, helping schools meet their staffing needs and enhance their provision with additional support.

The Role:

  • Position: Part-Time Cover Teaching Assistant
  • Hours: Flexible part-time hours based on school needs (typically between 8:30 am - 3:30 pm)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: Ongoing opportunities, with the potential for longer-term placements for the right candidate

As a Cover Teaching Assistant, you will be a valuable resource in supporting classrooms, assisting teachers, and ensuring continuity of learning during staff absences. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Classroom Support: Assisting with daily activities, group work, and individual student support, adapting to each classroom’s unique needs.
  • Supporting Student Engagement: Working closely with students to help them stay engaged and focused, providing guidance and encouragement throughout the day.
  • Maintaining a Positive Learning Environment: Helping create a calm, organised, and welcoming atmosphere to ensure a productive classroom experience.
  • Adapting to Varied Settings: Flexibly supporting different year groups and subjects as needed, gaining a broad experience across the school.
  • Collaborating with Staff: Working closely with teachers to understand lesson objectives and provide consistent support for students.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in a classroom or educational setting is advantageous
  • Experience with Speech and Language needs, SEMH, or Autism is highly encouraged
  • Strong adaptability and enthusiasm for supporting different age groups and subjects
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to student development
  • DBS on the update service or willingness to complete a new one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
