Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher to join our team starting in October 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons in one or more foreign languages, inspiring students to achieve their full potential in language learning. You will work with students across all key stages, helping them to develop their linguistic abilities and cultural understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons in Spanish or French across Key Stages 3, 4, and possibly Key Stage 5.
  • Inspire students to develop a passion for language learning and an appreciation for different cultures.
  • Assess, record, and report on the progress and attainment of students, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the MFL department to develop and share best practices and resources.
  • Organize and participate in extracurricular activities related to languages, such as language clubs, trips, and cultural events.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in language education and integrate new teaching methods and technologies into your lessons.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching one or more foreign languages at secondary level.
  • Strong knowledge of the MFL curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • A passion for languages and a commitment to fostering students’ global awareness and intercultural understanding.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the wider school community.
