The Role:
As a Maths Teacher with SEN experience, you will deliver differentiated and engaging Maths lessons that cater to the varying abilities and learning styles of our students. You will work closely with the SENCO, teaching assistants, and other staff to create and implement personalized learning plans, ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative and adaptable Maths lessons to students with SEN, ensuring lessons are accessible and engaging.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans (ILPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and support staff.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies, including multisensory approaches, to help students understand key mathematical concepts.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and adjusting learning strategies as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring that all students feel valued and supported in their learning journey.
- Liaise with parents/carers, therapists, and external professionals to support the holistic development of students.
- Support students in preparing for functional skills and national exams, where appropriate, ensuring they have the tools to succeed.
About You:
We are looking for a compassionate and patient individual with a strong understanding of SEN and a commitment to helping all students achieve their best. You will be flexible, creative, and experienced in adapting your teaching to meet the individual needs of learners.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching Maths at secondary level, with a proven track record of adapting lessons for students with SEN.
- Strong understanding of a range of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia.
- Excellent communication and behavior management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications in SEN or experience working in a specialist SEN school.
- Experience using assistive technologies or alternative communication methods to support learning.
