Teaching Personnel work in partnership with a secondary school located in Bognor Regis, graded ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted during their most recent visit in March 2023.  The school are seeking an effective Maths specialist to join their department from ASAP September 2024 on a full-time basis, with the option of a permanent role for the suitable educator.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join an academy with a strong senior leadership team, who are supportive of all staff members.  The school has effective behaviour management and robust policies, and opportunity for career progression amongst staff, regardless of their role. 

The school are a graduate of Maths (or related subject) or cover supervisor, keen to pursue a career in education.  This is an exciting opportunity for graduates who are keen to undertake teacher training, and work in a school that will not only prepare you with the tools you need to become a successful educator, but also support you through your training whilst you gain experience in the classroom.

What is a cover supervisor?

Cover supervisors are key to the effectiveness of the school. The role involves supervising whole classes during the absence of a teacher, providing short term cover, and helping the students with their learning. Cover supervisors often get involved in the heart of the school and are familiar and trusted faces around the school.  This includes tutor time as well as subject lessons and provides insight into the world of teaching.

How will I know if I am suitable for the role?  

The ideal candidate for this role is a graduate seeking a career in secondary teaching, who may want to gain first hand experience in the classroom before undertaking a teacher training course.  Although Maths graduates are desirable for this particular role, the school are interested in graduates of all subjects who are keen to teach.  No previous school experience is necessary although can be beneficial. Relevant sport experience such as coaching is also highly desirable, as well as candidates who have experience working in a learning support capacity, or with challenging behaviour and/or vulnerable people.  If you do not yet have any experience, but a degree and the willingness to learn, this could also be the ideal role for you.
