Job Title: Level 3 Teaching Assistant (SEND Specialist)
Location: South Shields

About Us:
Teaching Personnel are looking for a Level 3 TA to work in a Primary School in South Shields in January, the school are dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive. The school has a strong commitment to supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and we are seeking a passionate, experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and group support for students with a wide range of SEND, including but not limited to ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory impairments, and SEMH needs.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalized learning plans.
- Employ a variety of communication strategies, such as Makaton, PECS, or other assistive tools, to meet students' individual needs.
- Assist in the preparation of differentiated materials and resources to enhance accessibility.
- Monitor and record students’ progress, contributing to reviews and assessments.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes confidence, independence, and well-being.
- Support transitions between activities, ensuring a calm and structured approach to minimize anxiety for SEND students.
Essential Requirements:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Extensive experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of EHCPs and strategies for implementing tailored interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
- Resilience, patience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with assistive technology or alternative communication methods.
- Knowledge of relevant safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Training in de-escalation and behavior management strategies.
