Join Our Team as a Learning Support Mentor in Penzance!

WHAT: Learning Support Mentors needed to guide pupils in small groups and 1-1 in educational settings
WHERE: Penzance, Cornwall
WHEN: ASAP!

Our partner schools in Penzance provide a bespoke, enriching curriculum for pupils and are looking for new staff to join their growing teams. These schools emphasize creating healthy and positive environments that encourage creativity in learning, providing a crucial open platform for children to learn and progress.

 

The Role:

  • Location: Based in schools in Penzance
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Term time)
  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Support: Assist children with learning difficulties, emotional challenges, academic support, and overall well-being
  • Training Provided: Safeguarding Level 2, Team Teach, Autism Awareness
  • Competitive Rates of Pay

 

Although previous experience working with children is preferred, it is not essential. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including sports, youth work, care, nursing, coaching, drama, and personal experience with children. Your personality and attitude are key factors in our selection process. A minimum of core GCSEs is required.

As a Learning Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in bridging the gap between teacher and student, helping pupils digest information, stay motivated, and fulfill their potential. Your role will involve working 1:1 and in small groups with children, fostering a calm and positive atmosphere. You may work with children exhibiting challenging behavior or those with special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, hearing and visual impairments, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

 

You:

  • Must have an enhanced DBS (assistance provided)
  • Have a passion for Education
  • A minimum of core GCSEs
  • Provide 2 recent references

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
