If so, Teaching Personnel wants to hear from you!

We are currently seeking Learning Support Assistants to work full-time in a vibrant SEN provision, specifically supporting pupils with high-functioning autism. Our pupils are academically able and go on to achieve GCSE-level qualifications, but they often face challenges with sensory processing, emotional regulation, and social interaction. As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in helping them navigate these challenges, boosting their confidence, and ensuring their success both in and out of the classroom.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with high-functioning autism
  • Assisting with sensory needs and emotional regulation, using a calm and nurturing approach
  • Promoting positive social interactions and boosting pupils’ self-esteem through engaging, fun activities
  • Supporting students in academic subjects, helping them stay on track to achieve their qualifications
  • Creating a safe and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for individuals with an empathetic and nurturing personality who can adapt to the unique needs of each pupil. You’ll need to be patient and understanding, while also bringing a fun, outgoing nature to the role to help foster a positive atmosphere for learning.

While previous experience working with SEN pupils is a plus, we’re happy to consider candidates from all backgrounds as long as you have:

  • A genuine interest in supporting young people with autism or SEN
  • Strong communication skills
  • A proactive attitude, and the ability to think creatively when managing challenging situations
  • The ability to remain calm and patient under pressure

About the School:

The school has a fantastic SEN provision that offers state-of-the-art facilities designed to support the diverse needs of its students. These include:

  • Indoor and outdoor sports pitches – fostering physical activity and teamwork
  • Music and art studios – providing creative outlets for expression and self-discovery
  • A forest school area – offering outdoor learning opportunities to build resilience and social skills
  • Sensory rooms – tailored environments that help pupils regulate their emotions and manage sensory overload

These facilities, combined with your support, will ensure every pupil receives the tailored education and care they deserve.

Benefits:

  • Highly competitive salary of £21,020 – £22,000 per year
  • Full pay during school holidays including half terms, summer holidays, and bank holidays
  • A supportive team and a school with a positive, inclusive ethos
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives every day
  • Potential career development within the SEN and education sectors
