Learning Support Assistant
We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and energetic Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team at a forward-thinking secondary school in Caerphilly. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of students who need support to reach their full potential.
Location: Caerphilly
Pay: £80 - £85 per day
Start Date: ASAP
As an LSA, you'll work closely with teachers to support students across various year groups, with a focus on those with additional learning needs. You'll provide tailored assistance to individuals or small groups, ensuring they have the resources and encouragement to thrive.
Located just outside Caerphilly, you'll be based in a dedicated ALN unit within a mainstream school. The base comprises a small number of classrooms, each led by a teacher and supported by a few teaching assistants. It features a brand-new sensory room designed to help children with additional needs relax when feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, the unit follows a no-shouting policy, fostering a calm and nurturing environment where students receive the care and attention they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong, supportive relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust.
- Help maintain a structured, positive classroom environment alongside teaching staff.
- Provide 1-to-1 and small group support for students with Autism, ADHD, or social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
- Actively engage in sports and physical activities to help students channel energy productively.
- Support students in building emotional resilience and developing essential life skills.
What You’ll Need:
- A calm, approachable demeanour and the ability to stay composed under pressure.
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviours and setting clear boundaries.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, students, and parents.
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed, no matter their starting point.
Requirements:
- An Enhanced DBS check (child-only) and registration with the Education Workforce Council (we can assist with this if needed).
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A*–C.
- Experience working with young people with behavioural challenges is preferred but not essential – enthusiasm and resilience are key!
