Learning Support Assistant

  • Specialist Provision in Burnley (BB12)
  • Start date: January 2025
  • Working hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Competitive rate £12.90-£13.40
  • School experience is not required to be successful in these roles

The school
This is provision that caters for children from KS1 – KS4. The type of SEN provision supports children who have struggled to achieve within a mainstem setting and often show signs of disengagement. The school prides themselves on their nurturing environment for their pupils. The school staff work collaboratively with each other with a common goal in mind; providing a positive learning environment for children and aiming to improve their self-confidence.

In order to be successful for the above roles you will have a keen interest of supporting pupils who show signs of challenging behaviour. As these can be challenging environments ideally you would have experience working with challenging individuals however this doesn’t necessarily have to be in a school setting and can be from care, residential, youth work, prison service, sports coaching etc!

Roles and responsibilities:
- Understanding of key areas to focus on for pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional Mental Health)
- Assist with developing and implementation of individual plans
- Child focused
- Consider the needs of the children and encourage right choices
- Caring, nurturing manner
- Manage behaviour
- Support children as instructed on a 1:1 or group bases

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
