IT Technician

We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Technician to join a friendly and supportive IT team within a Secondary school, you will be primarily based at in NN2. We require a proactive individual to support and assist all users of IT and Audio-Visual systems, equipment and services at Kingsthorpe College.

The successful candidate will support the wider team with the maintenance and development of those systems, equipment, and services, ideally have experience working within an IT based working environment and have basic knowledge of Microsoft packages and operating systems.

The school:

Is an oversubscribed 11-18 Academy with approximately 1400 students on roll. They were graded by Ofsted as Good in all areas in December 2019, and we are now looking forward to the next stage of our journey from good to great. The role:

• Provide technical support for staff and students, managing daily IT operations, including LAN, switching, firewalls, cabling, and user accounts on Prem AD and Azure AD.
• Oversee and maintain the Microsoft 365 environment, covering Security, Endpoint Manager, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and system backups, while monitoring security alerts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with interactive whiteboards, end-user devices, and other school technologies, ensuring smooth classroom functionality.
• Collaborate with IT contractors, support website updates, and contribute to the development of the Trust’s IT network with clear documentation and project management.
• Bring expertise in Windows Server networks, strong communication skills, and a commitment to continuous learning, supporting the overall success of the IT team.

• Able to work on own initiative, with minimal supervision and guidance
• Ability to organise and prioritise a heavy workload at busy times
• A calm approachable manner, able to deal with problems in a professional and friendly manner, displaying tact and diplomacy as required
• Willing to undertake training and develop professionally

You need to:

have experience in network design, configuration, and management, a proven ability to diagnose and resolve server and network infrastructure issues, a strong knowledge of Office 365, Azure, SharePoint, and Hyper-V environments and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
