Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Full-Time in the Sunderland
Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time position at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Sunderland. The role is set to begin in January with the outlook to securing a permanent contract.
Key Details:
- Pay: £450 - £500 per week, based on experience and responsibilities.
- Full-time: Monday to Friday.
- Start Date: January or ASAP, with the role potentially lasting until the end of the academic year/Going permanent
Role Overview:
As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both students and teachers by:
- Delivering lessons and covering classes across a range of subjects in the absence of teachers, ensuring a smooth continuation of learning.
- Providing one-on-one and small group support to students who may need additional help with their studies.
- Assisting with lesson planning and resource preparation, working closely with teachers to ensure students’ learning needs are met.
- Monitoring and assessing students' progress, offering feedback, and adapting teaching methods to support their development.
- Helping to manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.
- Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and working alongside the SEN department to provide tailored support when necessary.
- Leading intervention sessions or extra-curricular activities to support students in achieving their learning goals.
This role requires a confident individual who can work independently, as well as part of a team, and has a strong understanding of classroom management and student engagement. This is an exciting opportunity for an HLTA to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and supportive school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
