We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) to join a Secondary School in Lewisham. This full-time role is offered on a contract basis and is ideal for someone passionate about providing high-level classroom support and making a difference in students’ educational journeys.

As an HLTA, you will take on additional responsibilities beyond a typical Teaching Assistant role, working closely with teachers to support planning, delivery, and assessment of lessons. You will also lead small group sessions and interventions, helping students with diverse needs to reach their potential. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys taking on leadership responsibilities within the classroom and has a strong understanding of how to support learning in a secondary school setting.

Key Responsibilities
• Support classroom teachers with planning and delivering engaging lessons.
• Lead small group interventions and provide targeted support to students.
• Assist with assessing student progress and adapting learning strategies accordingly.
• Work closely with teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Take on additional responsibilities, such as covering classes when required.

Qualifications And Experience
• Previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of the secondary school curriculum and teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to take on leadership responsibilities within the classroom.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
