Job description

Job role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Wakefield (WF5)

Contract: Mon-Fri 8:30am-15:30pm

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a Secondary School in Leeds. The successful candidate will be supporting and covering lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. 

Main Duties:

  • Prepare lessons with teachers, contributing to the planning cycle including evaluating and adjusting lessons in response to pupils’ needs.
  • Teach whole classes as part of PPA provision according to the PPA timetable. Also to provide short-term cover within any age group in response to teacher absence.
  • Provide verbal and written feedback on lesson content, pupil responses to learning activities and pupil behaviour, to teachers and pupils in line with school policy.
  • Motivate and progress pupils’ learning following school policies and guidance from class teachers.
  • Organise and safely manage the appropriate learning environment and resources.
  • Assess pupils’ responses to learning tasks and where appropriate, modify methods to meet individual and/or group needs.
  • Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils, including those with specific needs, both in the classroom as part of first-quality teaching and through intervention work.

Requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK or be a UK resident
  • Have an overseas criminal clearance or willing to apply for one
  • Have a child enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
  • Previous or relevant experience working with children
  • Experience leading or Teaching a Class
  • Minimum of three months UK residency
  • We do not accept those on skilled worker visas
  • Please ensure you have references available upon request covering the last 24 months of employment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
