Job description

TP Tutors are currently working alongside Schools, Local Authorities and Virtual Schools in the Sunderland area to provide support to students in Functional Skills. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting individual to develop their functional skills in English and Maths.

This role involves:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality and engaging 1-1 and group-based functional skills sessions to learners.
  • Assess the children’s progress and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their learning and development.
  • Identify individual learner needs and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, progress, and achievements,
  • Be aware of children’s individual needs, such as emotional support.

Tutor Requirements:

  • Professional Teaching Qualification are preferred (Qualified Teaching Status, QTS) or significant TA/Tutoring experience.
  • Experience of working with children/young people with SEND, SEMH or other additional needs.
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce only DBS on the update service, or willingness to purchase one via TP Tutors (support for obtaining one can be provided)
  • Professional references from your two most recent employers, totalling 24 months from a 10-year career history.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
