Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Foundation Phase & Key Stage 2)

About Us:

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive Primary school in Cardiff, with a dedicated team supporting pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) across the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2. We take pride in fostering a positive and nurturing environment that enables each child to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our school has on-site parking and is also easily accessible via public transport.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will work closely with pupils who have additional learning needs, helping to ensure they receive the individualised support they need to succeed. You’ll work under the guidance of teachers to provide tailored assistance, both in small groups and one-on-one, adapting activities to meet pupils' needs and ensuring that each child feels encouraged and included in their learning journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of individualised learning plans.
  • Adapt lesson activities to support different learning styles and needs.
  • Help manage classroom behavior to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Offer emotional and social support to foster pupils' confidence and well-being.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and other staff to monitor pupils' progress and adapt support as needed.
  • Support with some administrative tasks related to the role.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience working with children, especially those with additional learning needs, is essential.
  • Understanding of Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 curriculum is desirable.
  • A caring, patient, and adaptable approach, with a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, are desirable but not essential.
