Position: Food Technology Teacher (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities - SEND)
Location: Birmingham, Harbourne
Contract Type: Part Time (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)

The Role

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and accessible food technology lessons tailored to the needs and abilities of our students.
  • Teach essential life skills, including food preparation, hygiene, and nutrition, fostering independence and confidence.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support a range of learning needs, including sensory, physical, and cognitive challenges.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment in the food technology classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with the SEND team to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Manage and maintain food tech facilities, ensuring health and safety standards are met.

What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified teacher with QTS/PGCE or equivalent (specializing in SEND or Food Technology preferred).
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEND in an educational setting.
  • Patience, creativity, and the ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and nutrition.
  • A commitment to fostering independence and confidence in every student.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff, families, and external professionals.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
