The Headteacher and Governing Body of a larger than average Primary School in Preston are looking to secure an experienced Early Years Teacher to work on a 0.5 basis in school alongside a partner Reception Class teacher. The successful candidate will be required to work Wednesday mornings and all day Thursdays and Fridays. This role is covering a long-term absence and is due to continue through the Autumn term and potentially into September 2025. The Head teacher has specified the following details to the agency in order to ascertain the suitability of applying candidates;

“We would preferably like a teacher who has a specialism in EYFS with their QTS qualification or has at least two years experience teaching pupils in Nursery or Reception.”

Additionally, the said school are also requiring the applying teachers to be able to evidence experiences of working alongside children with challenging behaviour and special educational needs.

As the EYFS unit consists of 30 children, the Head teacher has also noted that the successful candidate will be one who is able to manage a large class and also deploy and utilise support staff; encouraging learning opportunities and the gathering of assessment information. Experience following the Letters and Sounds Phonics Scheme is essential for this role and the Headteacher is open to the sharing of ideas particularly to develop Phonics and also Speech and Language skills.

The role:

The role is to cover a long term absence. As part of this role, you will be expected to work 2.5 days a week Wednesday-Friday. The Deputy Head teacher will work alongside you as part of a job share, there will be time to joint plan and manage assessments in the week to ensure you are delivering the same lesson content etc. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking for the flexibility to work in a GOOD EYFS department where you will truly feel valued by the Senior Leadership Team and your colleagues. TO START - JANUARY 2025.

The school:

The general catchment of the school is mixed, a number of children will arrive from socially deprived backgrounds and a number of children are given additional funding through PP and SEN interventions. Behaviour is not an issue in this school as the behaviour policy is consistently used by the staff and the children have good routines and make good decisions. However, the Head teacher is keen to meet candidates who can show examples of challenging behaviour and how a variety of challenging situations can be managed effectively.
