Job description

We are currently looking to appoint passionate and enthusiastic Early Years Assistant/Learning Support Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Blackburn. This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will support pupils in meeting their personal, academic and pastoral needs at each stage of their schooling.

This school is a mainstream primary school, however, there are a number of pupils with additional needs such as Autism (ASC), Learning Difficulties and Complex Needs. The school offers an education which provides pupils’ with a broad, balanced, differentiated and relevant curriculum, presents them with challenges in which creativity is fostered and which is based on the essential elements of the National Curriculum. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting teachers to deliver highly personalised inclusive lessons.
  • Willingness to develop a good understanding of the school’s curriculum.
  • Working closely with other professionals and families.
  • Supporting with personal care
  • Supporting the creation of a climate for success for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities to learn and develop.
  • A resilient and instinctive approach in meeting pupils’ needs.

Requirements for the role:

  • Experience working in an Early Years setting, we find applicants with this background have a playful and energetic approach which is required in this school
  • OR experience supporting children/young adults with special needs
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification or above
  • Ability to work flexibly, throughout the whole school, meeting the needs of pupils in a range of contexts.
  • Have a passion for working with children in education.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
