One of Teaching Personnel’s client schools in Stockport is seeking a Graduate English Tutor to work on a part time basis with students across Years 10 and 11. In order to be considered for this post, you must be an English Graduate with aspirations of becoming a teacher in the future. A minimum of 1 years experience is required. The role will involve working with students across a wide range of ages and abilities, including those with SEN.
It is expected that the tutor will be able to maintain student engagement, and will be able to implement effective strategies when it comes to developing student progression within the subject. The school expects the applicant to be able to develop exam technique, using past papers to aid overall progression.
This presents itself as an exciting opportunity to gain further school based experience, gaining an insight into the various ways in which children are able to retain information. This role will also act as an invaluable way of supporting a PGCE or related teacher training course in the future.
The role will also involve:
- Working on an individual basis with students with EAL requirements (working with children hose primary language is not English)
- Developing the skills of students with SEMH needs, as well as those who have fallen behind the expected rate of progression.
- Monitoring work completed by students, adjusting feedback accordingly in order to positively benefit the pupils concerned.
- Setting engaging homework tasks in order to consolidate learning, as well as being able to effectively differentiate work set.
- Communicating with English teachers in identifying areas for improvement for individual students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
