English Tutor
Job description
Are you experienced in working with children/young people in English? Do you have a strong subject knowledge of English and want to use this to support vulnerable pupils?
TP Tutors are currently working with Schools and Local Authorities within the North Yorkshire area. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about making a difference in children’s lives by achieving their academic goals within English.
This role will require someone to work closely with students on a 1-1 basis, providing them with high-quality English sessions to maximise their potential across the subject. This role may involve working with children outside of a mainstream setting.
Tutor Requirements:
- Professional Teaching Qualifications are preferred (Qualified Teacher Status, QTS).
- A strong subject knowledge of the English Curriculum.
- Experience of working with children/young people with SEND, SEMH and other additional needs
- An Enhanced Child Workforce only DBS on the update service, or willingness to purchase one via TP Tutors (support for obtaining one can be provided)
- Professional references from your two most recent employers, totalling 24 months from a 10-year career history.
This role involves:
- Planning, creating and delivering engaging sessions to children who are currently working below expectations.
- Applying a variety of behavioural strategies to ensure the children are engaged.
- Having an awareness of the child’s needs and interest, using this to create a child-centred approach to learning.
- Assessing pupils, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes and planning next steps.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
