Role Overview:
Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Southampton. This is a full-time role to start in January 2025, initially on a temporary basis however these is the scope for this to become a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons to Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of English
- Student Achievement: Support all learners, including those with varying abilities, to achieve their full potential through differentiated teaching strategies and interventions.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment where all students feel encouraged to participate and excel.
- Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student work, providing constructive feedback and tracking progress to ensure students meet or exceed expectations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the English department and wider school staff to align teaching with curriculum goals, share resources, and contribute to the department’s success.
- Pastoral Care: Act as a form tutor or provide support to students as required, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Preparation for Exams: Prepare students thoroughly for internal and external assessments, providing targeted support to help them succeed in their GCSE examinations.
- Professional Development: Engage in regular professional development opportunities offered by the school to enhance teaching practice.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in English. Early Career / Newly Qualified Teachers are welcomed to apply.
- Subject Expertise: A strong understanding of the English curriculum and the ability to teach the subject confidently across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Experience: Prior experience in delivering high-quality English lessons and supporting a diverse student population is highly desirable.
- Classroom Management Skills: Proven ability to create and maintain an orderly and supportive classroom environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
