Teaching Personnel is recruiting skilled and enthusiastic English Teachers to work in secondary schools across Portsmouth. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, tailored to meet the needs of a diverse range of students.
- Inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, encouraging a love for literature and effective communication.
- Mark and assess students' work, providing constructive feedback to promote improvement and progress.
- Prepare students for GCSE English examinations, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge required to achieve their potential.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, fostering a positive and focused learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and the English department to ensure high-quality teaching standards and contribute to the overall success of the school.
- Attend parent evenings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions as required.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialism in English.
- A degree in English or a related subject.
- Experience teaching English at secondary school level, preferably across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to different learning styles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Effective classroom management skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
