The Role: As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to small groups of students or on a one-to-one basis, helping them to develop their literacy skills and achieve national qualifications, such as GCSEs or functional skills. You will play a pivotal role in inspiring students to reconnect with their education, fostering a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative and flexible English lessons that meet the diverse needs of our learners.
- Support students in preparing for exams and assessments, with a focus on functional skills and GCSE qualifications.
- Collaborate with the wider teaching and support team to create individualized learning plans (ILPs) for each student.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, managing behavior in a supportive and consistent manner.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and senior leadership.
- Work closely with external agencies, parents/carers, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for each learner.
About You: We are looking for an enthusiastic and empathetic individual who is passionate about supporting young people in overcoming barriers to education. You will need to be resilient, flexible, and able to adapt your teaching approach to suit the varying needs of our students.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching English at secondary level, ideally with experience in alternative provisions, PRUs, or SEN environments.
- Strong behavior management skills and the ability to engage hard-to-reach learners.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Desirable:
- Experience working with students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
- Experience in delivering functional skills or alternative qualifications.
