EAL Lead – Maternity Cover (Secondary School, Oldham)

Are you passionate about supporting students for whom English is an additional language (EAL)? A secondary school in Oldham is seeking an experienced and dedicated EAL Lead to join their team on a maternity cover contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the EAL provision across the school, supporting students with varied levels of English proficiency.
  • Assess the needs of EAL students and implement targeted intervention strategies to help them succeed.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to develop and adapt lesson plans to support language acquisition.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records of interventions and outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on strategies to support EAL students within mainstream lessons.
  • Engage with parents and carers to ensure effective communication and support for EAL students at home.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in an EAL teaching or leadership role within a secondary school.
  • Strong understanding of EAL assessment tools, interventions, and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and families.
  • A commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
