Job Advertisement: Design and Technology Teacher – Alternative Provision (Key Stage 3)

Location: Liverpool
Position Type: Full-Time

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a talented and dedicated Design and Technology (DT) Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive alternative provision school working with Key Stage 3 students. This role is ideal for a fully qualified teacher with a passion for helping young people succeed in a non-mainstream educational setting.

The school provides a nurturing environment where students facing challenges in traditional settings are supported to thrive. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of subject expertise, classroom management skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and practical DT lessons tailored to Key Stage 3 students.
  • Foster a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the individual needs of students, helping them develop both technical skills and confidence.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and guide to support their personal and academic growth.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using strategies to engage and motivate students with challenging behaviour.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to monitor progress and implement strategies that help students achieve their potential.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Fully qualified teacher status (QTS) with a specialism or strong background in Design and Technology.
  • Experience teaching in alternative provision or similar settings is highly desirable.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to work effectively with challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build meaningful relationships with students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
