Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Design and Technology Teacher to join our team starting in October 2024. The successful candidate will inspire and challenge students across all key stages, delivering engaging and high-quality lessons in Design and Technology. You will be responsible for nurturing students’ creativity, guiding them through practical projects, and helping them to develop the technical skills needed for success in this subject.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver stimulating lessons in Design and Technology across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5.
  • Inspire students to develop a passion for design, engineering, and technology through hands-on projects and real-world applications.
  • Assess, record, and report on the progress and attainment of students, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Manage and maintain a safe and well-organised workshop environment, ensuring that all equipment is used safely and effectively.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Design and Technology education, integrating new ideas and techniques into your teaching.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, such as clubs and competitions related to Design and Technology.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Design and Technology or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Design and Technology at secondary level.
  • Strong knowledge of the Design and Technology curriculum, including CAD/CAM, product design, engineering, and resistant materials.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
