Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a coeducational secondary school located in Portsmouth. It caters to students aged 11 to 16 and offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for higher education and future careers. The school emphasises strong teaching, committed staff, and excellent facilities. It also provides a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including a popular Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. The school are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Design and Technology Teacher with knowledge of Food Technology. This is a full-time role, starting in January and is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher to join a dynamic team committed to nurturing creativity and skill development.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and innovative lessons in Design and Technology, with a focus on Food Technology, that meet the national curriculum.
  • Inspire and challenge students to develop practical skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of the subject.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Prepare resources and maintain a safe, organised and fully equipped workshop and kitchen environment.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular projects and share best practices.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including participating in extracurricular activities, school events, and department initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in all practical lessons.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A strong academic background and subject knowledge in Design and Technology, with expertise in Food Technology.
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to supporting students in achieving their potential.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
  • The ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
