Design and Technology Teacher – Secondary Schools Across Northampton

Role Responsibilities

As a Design and Technology Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver Engaging Lessons: Teach engaging and innovative lessons across KS3, KS4, and possibly KS5, in your area of D&T expertise
  • Inspire Creativity: Encourage students to explore their creativity and practical skills, promoting a love for design, engineering, and problem-solving
  • Apply Real-World Concepts: Demonstrate how design and technology relate to real-world applications, using modern industry techniques and tools
  • Develop Technical Skills: Guide students in using materials, tools, and digital resources safely and effectively
  • Manage Classroom Environments: Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment where students feel confident to explore their potential

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognized teaching qualification, with a specialization in Design and Technology
  • Relevant Experience: Proven experience teaching D&T to secondary school students; specializations in areas like Product Design, Engineering, or Textiles are highly valued
  • Technical Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of D&T curriculum, as well as practical skills in relevant software and tools
  • Passion for Teaching: A strong commitment to inspiring young people to achieve and develop practical, creative skills
  • Adaptability and Initiative: Ability to work confidently in different school environments and adapt to varied classroom dynamics
