Location: Smiths Wood
Contract Type: Full-Time – Maternity Cover
Salary: £45000

The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and creative teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to lead our Creative Arts program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual arts, drama, music, or other creative disciplines and will be able to tailor lessons to meet the varied needs of students with SEN.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum and SEN best practices.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to express themselves.
  • Develop creative arts projects that enhance students’ self-esteem, communication skills, and social interaction.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and other staff to provide holistic support to students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and extracurricular activities, including arts events, showcases, and performances.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialization or strong background in Creative Arts (Art, Drama, Music, etc.).
  • Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs, particularly in a secondary school setting.
  • A passion for creativity and the ability to inspire and engage students with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to working as part of a dedicated SEN team.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of SEN students.
