Role Overview:

The school are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of regular teachers, ensuring that students remain on task and follow the set lesson plans. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals interested in gaining classroom experience and contributing to the educational journey of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Management: Supervise students during the absence of their regular teachers, maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Lesson Delivery: Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure that students understand the tasks set by their regular teacher.
  • Behaviour Management: Address any issues of classroom behaviour promptly and in accordance with school policies.
  • Support for Learning: Assist students with their learning as needed, providing guidance and support.
  • Administrative Duties: Complete any required administrative tasks, including taking attendance and reporting on lesson activities.
  • Communication: Liaise with teaching staff to ensure continuity of student learning and adherence to lesson objectives.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. A-levels or equivalent qualifications are desirable.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with young people or in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a classroom effectively.
  • Attributes: Reliable, flexible, and patient with a genuine interest in education and student development.
