Role: Cover Supervisor
Location: Secondary School in Tameside
Start Date: January 2025

A secondary school in Tameside seeks a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to manage classes during teacher absences. This essential role involves maintaining students’ engagement, managing classroom behaviour, and ensuring a consistent learning experience. This is a great opportunity for those interested in exploring a teaching career or working within an educational setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Supervision: Manage classes of secondary students during short-term teacher absences, following lesson plans and ensuring that students remain focused and productive.
  • Continuity in Learning: Deliver pre-set work, keeping students on task and supporting them with any questions, to provide a seamless learning experience.
  • Behaviour Management: Promote a positive learning environment, handling behaviour issues in line with school policies and setting clear expectations for classroom conduct.
  • Student Support: Engage with students who need additional guidance, encouraging them to complete assignments and remain focused.
  • Administrative Tasks: Occasionally assist with other classroom duties and general administrative support as needed.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, patience, and confidence in working with groups. Previous experience in a school setting or working with young people is beneficial, though training will be provided. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
