About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a Cover Supervisor / Unqualified Teacher to work across a range of secondary schools in Tameside, including Hyde, Stalybridge, Ashton, and Denton, starting in January 2025. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising students during lessons, ensuring they stay on task with pre-prepared work in the absence of their regular teachers. This role provides valuable experience for those looking to enter the teaching profession or for individuals seeking a rewarding position working with young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising students in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring they remain engaged and on-task.
- Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive, focused learning environment.
- Delivering pre-prepared lessons or activities across various subjects.
- Providing support to students, helping them with their work and maintaining a productive atmosphere.
- Ensuring students follow the school's rules and safeguarding policies.
- Reporting back to the regular teacher or school leadership on student progress and behaviour.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience working with young people, preferably in a classroom or educational setting (but not essential).
- A strong desire to support students’ learning and development.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to different environments and subject areas.
- An interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- No formal teaching qualification is required, but relevant experience in education or a related field is beneficial.
