About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic, adaptable Cover Supervisors to join our team, working across a range of schools in the St Helens area. This role provides an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers or recent PGCE graduates to gain hands-on classroom experience, manage lessons, and make a positive impact on students’ learning journeys. As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the continuity of education in the absence of teachers, managing the classroom, and ensuring that students remain engaged with their assigned work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and deliver pre-set lesson activities to classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment and manage classroom behavior effectively.
  • Provide assistance to students where necessary and answer general questions about the day’s tasks.
  • Work across various subject areas, gaining exposure to different teaching practices and school settings.
  • Ensure students remain on task with set work, fostering a productive and supportive classroom atmosphere.

About You

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Passionate about education and aspire to pursue a career in teaching.
  • Confident in managing a classroom and maintaining effective student behavior.
  • Flexible and adaptable to work in a variety of school settings across St Helens.
  • Strong communicators with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to work on short notice.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • A completed or ongoing PGCE, or experience working in an educational setting.
  • Experience working with young people (either in education or other relevant fields).
  • An understanding of the UK national curriculum is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided.
