Teaching Personnel are looking for Cover Supervisors for flexible cover work in Secondary Schools from October 2024. This role starts immediately.
- Job Type: Flexible, Part or Full Time (minimum 3 days per week)
- Pay: £90 - £120 (flexible depending on travel)
- Location: Northampton (NN1 - NN8)
- Start: ASAP from October 2024 - ongoing flexible and contract work available

The Role: Being a successful Cover Supervisor requires you to be someone who can build a good rapport with your pupils in a short space of time, who can remain calm, confident, and engaging in unfamiliar surroundings whilst teaching a multitude of subjects. This role is essential in all types of schools and within all stages of learning. You must be able to keep the class focused on their learning objectives, motivate them to want to learn, maintain class discipline and keep the pupils on track. You will be teaching Key stages 3 and 4, and possibly covering Key stages 5.
Being a Cover Supervisor is ideal for those who wish to gain lots of teaching experience. For example, a Teaching Assistant (TA) wishing to progress, those considering a teaching career but aren’t yet qualified, or if you want to work whilst studying for your Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
What is a Cover Supervisor?
- Supervising and managing the behaviour of students during lessons.
- Delivering pre-prepared lesson plans to maintain continuity in learning.
- Providing support to students in their learning activities.
- Managing classroom resources and ensuring a safe learning environment.
- Reporting back to teaching staff on student progress and any issues arising during the day.
Requirements:
- Confident approach working with Secondary Age Pupils (age 11 - 16 years)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Degree from University or previous experience working with children
- Ability to engage and inspire students.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Previous experience in a similar role or working with young people is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
